What loot system does TR use?

And has it changed at all from the Planes of Power days?

Fundamentally, we use a fixed price straight bid system, wherein he with the most points wins.  It has changed, but only slightly since the PoP days, but mostly those changes are nuances in how attendance factors, and other items such as no charge items, etc.

Since you asked, I'm currently working on a case-study of the top guilds during the Planes of Power era. Unfortunately, the "Guild Progression List" site only started tracking data during the Gates of Discord expansion. Do you know if any data exists to provide rankings for this era?

item "xxx" drops
item "xxx" goes for a price of 300

player "A" wants it and has 500 points available
player "B" also wants it, but only has 400 points available

player "A" wins item "xxx" for a price of 300 and now has 200 points available.

point pricing varies... but thats a pretty easy example of how a fixed price bidding system works.

most of the guilds from PoP era are either rebuilt with/without the same name, non active alt guilds, or just not around anymore. TR, Crimson Tempest, Triality, Triton, Cestus Dei... there's more, but those i remember off the top of my head as far as still actively raiding.

As for the guilds thing, I'm not really interested in the status of the guilds in the present, only their ranking in the PoP-era (and their particular loot-system at the time).

The top guilds in PoP era were Township Rebellion (dkp), Afterlife (dkp), Fires of Heaven (furor merrit).

All those others stated on this thread were non factors for years to come or came and went.  

As for that website about the guild rankings, its crap.
